LMHI Country Report Latvia

In 1998, Latvian doctors first joined LMHI. During this period, a diplomatic struggle between “traditional homeopathy” (use of multiple remedies) and classical homeopathy occurred. The years 2007-2008 marked a turning point in Latvian homeopathy. In October 2007, we were asked to prepare postgraduate curriculum for the Riga medical university, Rigas Stradina Universitate. This 3-year educational course for medical doctors will lead to a higher level of recognition of homeopathy, assisting us in the opportunity of making homeopathy a basic medical specialty within a few years.

This year the new board of the Latvian homeopathic association, elected in March 2008, is editing homeopathic documents (“Regulations on homeopathic doctor specialty”, “The medical technology of classical homeopathy”) in accordance with the principles of Hahnemannian homeopathy. Preparation of the 66th congress of LMHI in Riga continues.
